While volleyball was invented in Massachusetts by William G. Morgan
in 1895, the first references to beach volleyball are located in Uruguay
in 1914 and Hawaii in 1915. Therefore, the exact and concrete origin of
beach volleyball is challenging to determine. It may have been in
California because innovative games played on the beach have always
appeared on its shores. Brazil could be credited to this sport. As it
seems that in 1941 the "First Arena Championship" was organized and, at
the same time, the presence of volleyball grounds was instituted on the
beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon and others. France could also be
credited since the first tournaments date back to 1935, which is a date
before the formation of the French Volleyball Federation.
Despite
the difficulty in determining where this sport arose, the truth is that
beach volleyball is not a contemporary game. Currently, the diffusion of
beach volleyball has made this sport reach practically a majority of
countries with the coast, and even to countries where the ideal weather
lasts only three months. Another reason for this rapid recreation is the
framework ideal for the promotion and sale of a wide range of consumer
products.
Beach volleyball has continued to spread throughout the
years in many parts of the world and 1996. It was recognized as an
Olympic discipline. Beach volleyball has now become a global sport that
has been popularly popular through constant international competitions
organized by the International Volleyball Federation.
Beach volleyball net
is a variant of standard volleyball. It is played in the sand and has
the rules almost equal to that of home volleyball, being one of the most
significant differences is being played by teams of two players. As
already said, beach volleyball was a natural evolution of volleyball,
which began to emerge on the beaches of Santa Monica California, around
1920.
Throughout the 70s, some professional competitions and
tournaments began to emerge, mainly sponsored by beer and cigarette
companies. Once it started to gain some popularity, the sport quickly
began to be practiced a bit by everyone, especially in places on the
coast and with excellent beaches. In 1996, beach volleyball became an
Olympic modality, both for men and women and since then one of the most
significant world powers of this sport is Brazilians. The measurements
of the field are 16 meters long and 8 meters long. Curiously, the ball
used in this variant is equal to that of volleyball, but the internal
pressure of the ball is lower.
The game is divided into sets, is
that for a team to conquer the collection it has to make 21 points
having a difference of at least 2 points between the teams. If it is not
checked, then the set continues until that difference exists. The match
wins who conquers 2 sets first. If the result in sets is 1 * 1, later
play a final set, having this only 15 points, but the rule of point
difference remains. The beach volleyball rules are very similar to the
standard volleyball rules as already said, but there are still some
differences, such as the pitch.
